It was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP Architects and constructed by Taisei Corporation in 2004. The structure stands at 2,722 feet (828 m) high with its highest point being 1,600 feet (488 m) above sea level. It has 108 floors and has 164 elevators that carry up to 18 people each at speeds up to 8 meters per second. The tower holds over 160 restaurants and cafes with views of surrounding areas such as Arabia Gulf Hotel, Jumeirah Mosque, Palm Jumeirah, and more.
