Kia Picanto Vs. Chevrolet Spark
Kia and Chevrolet both are the most grossing brands in the hatchback category. Kia, their most successful and most grossing hatchback: Picanto. At the same time, Chevrolet lands with their Spark.
The latest 2nd generation of Picanto offers all the essential features you need in a car. The vehicle is primarily popular in the UAE, particularly in Dubai’s car rental market. It’s a low cost to hire.
The Chevrolet spark is one of the oldest hatchback models manufactured to date. It was first launched in 2010 by Chevrolet. After 22 years, Chevrolet has launched their 3rd generation of the Spark.
The Spark falls under a mid-range category hatchback. Like Picanto, Spark is also the most popular car in Dubai. It’s affordable and offers all the premium features like other companies.
On the engine side, Picanto offers the regular 1.0 litre DOHC petrol engine capable of producing 68 HP of power at 6,200 RPMs. It’s not a good option if you’re looking for power and performance.
On the other hand, Chevrolet Spark offers a 1.4 litre CVD engine capable of producing 98 HP at 5,200 RPMs. Being a small hatchback, the 1.4-litre engine is more than enough if you want a powerful car with better performance.
Therefore, on the hinge side, Spark is the winner.
The Spark offers all those safety features from a premium segment sedan by Toyota and Honda. The car provides ten airbags, auto braking, auto-door locks, traction control, collision alert, hill assist, LATCH, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, rear camera, and tire pressure monitor in the standard variant. From safety features, it’s a fully packed car with no compromises.
On the Kia side, it’s not even close to Spark. Picanto only offers ABS and two airbags in its standard version. On the safety side, Spark is the clear winner. Picanto isn’t even close to Spark in terms of safety features.
Performance and Maneuverability
Picanto feels sluggish and an underpowered car. The Picanto offers a 68 HP engine, while the Spark can produce 98 HP at the same RPM as the Picanto. Spark is powerful, offers excellent maneuverability, and doesn’t have sluggish or underpowered.
Features and Infotainment
Chevrolet Spark has 7″ infotainment display that offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six speakers out of 2 are tweeters and a WiFi modem. Multi-media control on steering and a 4” TFT cluster screen in the speed-o-meter range is more than enough. Moreover, the Spark also offers DRL, fog lights, and a rear braking lamp.
On the Kia side, it’s almost empty in features. Its features list ends as it starts: a 7” touch screen, power steering, and fog lights. That’s it. Therefore, on the features side, Spark retakes the edge.

Both cars have a slight price difference, but the comparison isn’t close. The Picanto is like an entry-level hatchback with minimal features. On the other hand, Spark is a top-notch mid-range segment hatchback that offers a much more powerful engine, all the standard safety features, and a best-in-class infotainment system.
