How to Transfer Black Points to Your Driving Licence (Step by Step Guide)
Traffic fines issued during a car rental may include black points (also known as traffic points). These points are first recorded under the rental company’s traffic file. To ensure they are correctly assigned to the driver, the points must be transferred to your own driving licence.
This process can be completed easily through the TAMM app. Here is a full guide using the exact steps from the app.
Step 1: Open the TAMM App
- Download and open the TAMM app.
- Sign in using UAE Pass.
Step 2: Go to the “Drive & Transport” Section
- On the home screen, swipe or scroll through the top categories and tap on Drive & Transport.
Step 3: Tap on “Transfer Traffic Points to Driving Licence”
- Scroll down to the Fines & Violations
- Tap Transfer Traffic Points to Driving Licence.
Step 4: Choose the Fine
- You will see a list of fines linked to the car plate number you used.
- Select the fine you want to transfer.
Example details you may see:
- Plate Number: 4 | Abu Dhabi | 58419
- Fine Number: 6251070092
- Date & Time: 28 Jul 2025 – 7:36:28 pm
- Location: Dubai
- Traffic Points: 4
- Fine Location: Dubai City
- Tap the checkbox to select the fine.
Step 5: Confirm Who Was Driving and Enter Your Traffic File Details
After selecting the fine, you will be asked to specify who was driving the vehicle. Choose the correct option based on your situation:
- I was driving my own vehicle
- Another person was driving my vehicle
- I was driving another person’s vehicle (this is usually the correct choice when using a rental car)
- Then, enter your Traffic Profile Number to claim the traffic points.
(Example: 1200162593) - Click Search, then proceed to transfer.
The system will show how many points are currently claimed vs. the 24 point limit.
For example: 10/10 | 0/24 Traffic Points
Now click “Transfer Traffic Points” to move to the next step.
Step 6: Confirm Your Licence and Mobile Number
- The app will display your driving licence number.
- An OTP (one-time password) will be sent to your registered mobile number (for example: XXXXXXX186).
Step 7: Enter the OTP
- Enter the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile.
- Tap Verify & Submit.
If the mobile number shown is not yours, click the “Click here” link to update your traffic profile information before proceeding.
Step 8: Complete the Transfer
- After verifying the OTP, press Transfer Traffic Points to finish the process.
Additional Notes:
- You can transfer a total of up to 24 black points.
- If your mobile number is outdated, update it before requesting the OTP.
- It is important to complete this step to avoid issues with future rentals or legal problems.
